Peanut is so adorable and when
people meet her for the first time they are
absolutely enamored. Peanut is a very laid back dog.
Peanut is probably one of the
smartest dogs I know of her age. Within the first
couple of days she was potty trained.
Unfortunately a friend came over and this
is
when peanut really started to regress,
but with a tight training schedule she is
almost back on track occasionally we have
our accidents, which are easily
remedied.
Today she is just over 4 months old and working on 5, she can sit, lay down,
roll
over, jump, stand “pretty” sit “pretty” high five and shake a paw. We have a
whole
list to teach her and when we do present these tricks to her it takes less than
5
tries with voice command and hand action she is able to repeat these steps. Now
I
realize I only listed a few tricks but there are others like her fetch ad
retrieve,
she can bring my keys to me. She walks on a leash perfectly; she can walk off a
leash perfectly. She begs for food modestly. (We don’t starve the silly thing
but
with the looks she gives us you’d think we did) she has a really great recall
now
that she knows her name.
Peanut is a very pretty dog. Her fur is flawless. It is starting to get a bit
longer
and we are starting to brush her out a bit. She has a beautiful creamy coat, and
because she loves the water so much and showers with us it’s very easy to keep
her
coat looking shiny and soft feeling. Her nose perfectly matches her eyes and she
is
physically fit. She is now sitting at 7 pounds and she will get a bit
bigger
as she gets older, but for her breed she is the perfect size.
When we visited the vet for the first time Peanut was so excited to meet her and
immediately sat down (we taught her to sit for people she doesn’t know) and the
vet
checked her over and Peanut is in perfect health. When she got her shots she
didn’t even flinch, when we gave her a flea preventative pill she ate it without
us
having to disguise it. The vet even commented on how well mannered she was.
Peanut still has yet to find her voice we can’t get her to speak, which I
suppose is
good because when she does speak she does it with care. For instance, our front
door
is hooked up to an alarm system and when the beeping goes off peanut inspects
the
door if it’s not myself or mark then she immediately barks and gives a few
warning
growls and comes to find one of us so we can check it out. She is a great
warning
dog. Sometimes if someone stops outside of out door and doesn’t move on to the
next
door she will immediately let us know in the same manner. The only other time
she
barks is at our cat.
Fanny our cat is 18 years old, she is deaf but her eyesight is perfect. Peanut
loves
to play with the cat, as Fanny has no claws. Fanny can’t hear Peanut approaching
nor
can she hear her growling playfully or barking. What she can see is this small
animal lunching at her and opening her mouth. My cat is pretty laid back but she
pretends to hate the dog and for weeks I really thought she did until one day I
came
home early from work and I found the both of them cuddled on the cat bed. My cat
knows when I get home so she would have departed later that day, but for now as she
couldn’t hear me and Peanut was fast asleep neither of them assumed my approach.
When Fanny opened her eyes to my petting her she immediately jumped up assessing
the
situation hissed at peanut and walked away flicking her tail, she had this look
of
incredulous “how can you possibly believe I was sitting with her, I would never
do
that she is a dog” so now my fears are put aside and when they play fanny swats
her
paws at her and they generally have a good time.
If we do get a second dog, which right now as we are caring for Peanut is looking
more and more likely in the future, we would 100% definitely get a second puppy
from
Boylan Farms.
Her breed, coat, and compatibility- everything about this dog is awesome.
Love,
Samantha, Mark, Peanut the pup, and Fanny the cat
